Objectives and Consequences of the Israeli Regime’s Military Attack on Qatar

Strategic Council Online - Interview: A West Asia affairs expert stated that the Zionist regime's airstrike on Doha, the capital of Qatar, aimed at assassinating senior Hamas leaders, once again revealed Tel Aviv's brazen disregard for international law and the national sovereignty of countries. Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of this regime, justified the operation by claiming to "eliminate an existential threat" and asserted that "Hamas leaders were targeted." However, incoming reports indicate that this attack has failed. This aggression, carried out with the knowledge and consent of American officials, sparked a wave of anger and condemnation across the Arab and Islamic world. From the Arab League to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, and even the Palestinian Authority, they deemed this action a clear violation of international law and a serious threat to regional security. Saudi Arabia warned that the continuation of such behavior could endanger the stability of West Asia, while the UAE described the security of Arab countries as "integral and indivisible." However, regional observers believe that this wave of condemnations will likely remain at the level of diplomatic statements, with no serious practical action taken by Arab countries—a pattern previously observed in response to the Israeli regime's repeated attacks on Gaza. Meanwhile, Tel Aviv, relying on American support and the inaction of regional countries, is attempting to manage its internal crisis and advance the "Greater Israel" project by creating successive crises; a project whose explosions are now heard as far as the heart of the Persian Gulf.

Zionist Regime and Its Reckless Strategy in West Asia
Seyed Reza Sadr al-Hosseini, in an interview with the Foreign Relations Strategic Council website, referring to the recent attack by the Zionist regime on Doha, Qatar, stated: “This action is not only a clear violation of diplomatic principles and international rules but also shows that Tel Aviv recognizes no political or moral red lines in pursuing its objectives.” He noted that “what the Islamic Republic of Iran has warned about over the past four decades regarding the adventurous behaviors of the U.S. and the Israeli regime in the region has now become a reality before the eyes of Arab and Islamic nations.”

According to this analyst, “The Zionist regime, by insisting on implementing the Greater Israel project, seeks to change the regional balance of power in its favor by expanding its influence in Islamic territories.” He added: “The airstrike on Qatar is in line with the Israeli regime’s recent aggressive policies in Gaza and the West Bank, sending a clear message: Tel Aviv is prepared to transcend geographical and political boundaries to achieve its security and strategic objectives.”

The West Asia affairs expert, referring to the failure of the Zionist regime’s operation to assassinate Hamas leaders, emphasized: “Hamas’s official statement stresses that none of the movement’s senior officials were harmed in the recent attack in Doha. However, even if the Israeli regime had succeeded, historical experience shows that such actions have not and will not be able to disrupt the path of resistance. Hamas has lost its leaders many times over the years, but has managed to rebuild and continue its structure and struggle strategy.”

Reactions of Arab Countries and the Future of the Crisis
In another part of his remarks, Sadr al-Hosseini addressed the reactions of Arab countries to this attack, saying: “The widespread condemnations from the Arab world were predictable, but past experience shows that these reactions usually remain at the level of political statements, with no serious practical action taken to restrain the Israeli regime.” According to this expert, “It is unlikely that the Arab League or the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will go beyond emergency meetings and adopt practical policies against Tel Aviv.”

He emphasized that “the Israeli regime, understanding this regional passivity, continues to expand its aggressive actions and enjoys American support. Moreover, Netanyahu seeks his survival by creating successive crises; from the Gaza war to the attack on Doha, all are aimed at escaping internal pressures and political crises within his cabinet.” Given this, Sadr al-Hosseini warned that “the continuation of this approach will threaten not only Qatar’s security but the security of the entire Persian Gulf region.” He said: “The sound of explosions in Doha should serve as a wake-up call for all Arab capitals. The Greater Israel project is not limited to Palestine or Lebanon; it is a grand strategy to redesign the region’s geopolitics. As long as Arab countries do not go beyond issuing political statements, Tel Aviv will continue to hold the initiative.”

According to this analyst, “Only a real unity among Islamic countries and the adoption of a common strategy against the actions of the Israeli regime can stop this dangerous trend; otherwise, West Asia will witness more complex security crises that will be harder to contain than ever before.”
