France and the Two-State Solution in Occupied Territories

Strategic Council Online – Interview: An expert on regional issues said: The announcement of France's agreement with the formation of two states in the Occupied Territories is a measure to raise the international image of France and reduce domestic pressure on the Macron government for inaction against the Israeli crimes in Gaza.

In an interview with the website of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Hossein Ruyvaran stated that the most important reason for this change in the position of the French government is the impact that the Operation Al-Aqsa storm had on the French government. It once again showed the nature of the Israeli regime to the public opinion of the world.

He continued: This operation and the events of the last four months exposed the nature of the Zionist regime more than any other time in the past seventy years. The Palestinian issue has been a topic of debate for more than seventy years, but no action has been taken by the Western countries and the United States to solve the crisis.

Ruyvaran said: With the crimes and genocide the Israeli regime launched in Gaza, especially the countries that claim to be advocates of democracy and human rights were severely pressured by the domestic and global public opinion, as today the French government feels responsibility in this regard. It is trying to reduce the pressure by taking similar stances.

Referring to the statements of the French president about agreeing to the formation of the two-state option in the Occupied Territories, he emphasized that the Israeli regime is part of the policy of France and the West in the region, and they will not stop it. However, since Western public opinion has moved towards supporting Palestine and confronting the Israeli regime’s genocide, the issue of Palestine has attracted the attention of the internal politics of France and other Western countries. On the other hand, these statements by Emmanuel Macron have electoral and domestic consequences. But to say that with these stances, Israel will be out of France’s circle of attention is not the case. There have been developments regarding the issue of Palestine that European countries cannot be indifferent to.

This expert on regional issues said: The introduction to the discussion on the formation of two states is the recognition of the Palestinian state, which was part of the Oslo Accords in 1993, and the United States was the guarantor of the implementation of this agreement, but this agreement has not been implemented. Therefore, the issue of accepting the two-state solution by France, considering the records of this government, is to entertain and attract the opinion of the domestic public opinion of this country.

In response to the question of whether the recognition of the two states will create a change in the behavior and support policies of the West and America against the Israeli regime or not? He replied: The recognition of Palestine by these countries does not change the equation. So far, 136 countries have recognized Palestine. Still, nothing has happened regarding the validity and legal sovereignty of this country, and the Israeli regime has repeatedly emphasized that if the whole world recognizes Palestine, this regime will not accept it. And it does its job.

Regarding the guarantee of the implementation of such an idea by Western and European countries, Ruyvaran said: Basically, the entry of the Zionist regime into the two-state debate, which is preceded by the recognition of the Palestinian state, increases the capacity of the civil war in Israel and pits Israeli society against each other, because inside Israel there is no outlook that a Palestinian state may be formed in their neighborhood.

Netanyahu’s War Cabinet’s Efforts to Divert Public Opinion from The Gaza War

Strategic Council Online – Opinion: The Zionist regime is trying to “psychologically exploit” the recent events in the region to divert the world public opinion from the crimes this regime is committing in Gaza. Examining the atmosphere prevailing in the political and media circles of the Zionist regime and the centers aligned with it at the regional and international level shows that this regime seeks to “highlight and dominate” the recent tensions with the Islamic Republic of Iran so that it could reduce the heavy pressure that is felt in the domestic, regional, and international public opinion and even European governments against the Gaza war.
