Developments in Afghanistan; symbol of the US betraying allies

Strategic Council Online-Interview: An Afghan media activist says the developments and today’s scene in Afghanistan is a clear example of the US big betrayal to its allies wherever necessary.

Hojatoleslam Seyyed Isa Hosseini Mazari told the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations that the United States has failed in military and political domains in Afghanistan and decided to exit the country without considering the conditions of the government and people, when there was no reason for more costs and damages.

Referring to the irresponsible withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan and America’s wrong performance towards issues of the this country, he said it was clear from the outset that the US entry into Afghanistan was not in the interests of the Afghan people; Rather, they sought to exploit the country’s resources, position, and wealth, and to put pressure on China, Russia, Iran, and India by being present in the region.

Referring to the main objectives of the US for military presence in Afghanistan under the excuse of attack on twin towers, he said “In fact, they used issues such as state-building, democracy, freedom of expression, and economic and political development as a cover for these goals and other actions, but it was clear that country was not achieving its goals; In fact, in the last 20 years, the United States has tried to dominate the ideas and thoughts of the people, and it has stood up to the people under the pretext of fighting terrorism, and it has taken many steps to achieve cultural and intellectual domination.

Director of Afghan Voice News Agency (Ava) said “many of the actions taken by the United States in Afghanistan were aimed at pursuing its own cultural and intellectual policies, and “promoting secularism” and “religious extremism” were considered to be the two main pillars in this regard. They spent a lot of money to promote Wahhabism and institutionalized it in some provinces, while we have not seen this number of Wahhabis in Afghanistan before.”

Hosseini Mazari referred to the numerous struggles of legal and personal entities in Afghanistan against the US and said “These efforts thwarted American policies of intellectual and cultural domination. China, Russia and Iran also strongly opposed the US presence in Afghanistan. It can be concluded that military and political defeats and lack of clear achievements, as well as international and economic pressures and international rivalries, forced the United States to withdraw from Afghanistan.”

He said that following the military and political defeat in Afghanistan, the United States sought to advance its interests by changing its approach to political and security warfare; But the US could not have had a greater presence in Afghanistan, as it was unable to justify additional costs and losses. For this reason, regardless of the conditions of the government and the people in this country, the US decided to leave Afghanistan.

Head of the Tabyan Cultural and Social Activities Center of Afghanistan stressed that certainly the United States continues to pursue its goals in Afghanistan; with these designs and scenarios that we are witnessing, Americans are seeking to maintain their influence in the region, monitor its developments, and ruin the interests of China, Russia, and Iran.

Hosseini Mazari said NATO is also accompanying US in Afghanistan and has experienced failures, adding that “the European member states of NATO, which at first were either deceived by the United States or deliberately joined the invasion and came to Afghanistan, met a fate that the United States is facing. They initially entered the country for profit, but left the country quickly and willingly as soon as the US announced its withdrawal at a time when the situation in Afghanistan today is very complicated and the people of this country are not in a good position at all.”

He added that American politics has been full of betrayal throughout its history; We have always witnessed the US betraying its allies throughout history. The developments and the scene in Afghanistan are also a suitable atmosphere and ground and show a clear example that the United States is ready to betray its allies for its own interests. Even the Soviet Union did not leave its allies and agents in Afghanistan three decades ago, and even after leaving Afghanistan, it still supported the Najib government!

This analyst of Afghanistan issues said the US was unable to support its allies such as the government of Ashraf Ghani and dependent elements even for one month.

Referring to the remarks by Seyyed Hassan Nasrollah, the Secretary General of the Lebanon’s Hezbollah who said the US does not go to war on behalf of someone else and the nations of the region should understand the strategic dimensions of today’s developments in Afghanistan, he said “what we have seen towards Afghanistan is a great lesson for all nations, especially the nations of the Middle East that are being invaded by the West today, and especially by the United States.”

He added that for those who rely on Western support, such as Saudi Arabia, these developments should be a great lesson. They need to see what the United States did in Afghanistan and how it treated the elements in power in Kabul.

“They must seek the help of their people to establish and maintain independent sovereignty, and to properly understand the components of power. Certainly, this approach will be in the interest of our country, our nations and the nations of the region.”
