Reasons for Netanyahu’s Concern and Opposition to Two-State Solution

Strategic Council Online – Interview: An expert on West Asian issues said: Benjamin Netanyahu the Prime Minister of the Israeli regime, recently claimed in a statement that destroying Hamas without any excuse is the first condition for the future of war. At the same time, he said that he is not ready to replace the government of Hamastan with Fatahstan. Meanwhile, in the voting of the United Nations General Assembly earlier this month, 143 out of 193 members voted in favor of supporting a Palestinian state to join the United Nations.

In an interview  with the website of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Jafar Qanadbashi said: “The voting of countries to form a Palestinian state has made Netanyahu very angry. Because from a strategic point of view, the policy of this regime has been to create a great Israel, from the Nile to the Euphrates, which of course it has expressed it openly at some points and followed it silently in some other cases.

He added: “If we look at the actions of the Israelis in the political and military arena, we will find that these policies show that they will never actually agree to the formation of a Palestinian state even next to them in the Occupied Territories.”

According to Qanadbashi, they follow this strategy in the field of action from a political and military point of view. In the political arena, measures such as the pursuit of the ‘deal of the century’  during the presidency of Donald Trump and the normalization of relations with Arab countries under the name of Abraham’s peace were followed with the aim of ending the Palestinian issue and moving the Palestinians to other areas such as the Sinai Desert or Jordan or other places. »

This expert believes that these goals show that the authorities of the Israeli regime will always oppose the creation of a Palestinian state and even their goal is that the Palestinian refugees cannot return to their land.

He continued: “This is while all the Palestinian figures and groups, even Yasser Arafat, emphasized that East Jerusalem should be recognized as the capital of Palestine, but this issue was never agreed upon, and in parallel with the opposition to the return of the refugees by forming a government named Palestine has also been practically opposed.”

Pointing out that the Israelis seriously have the same strategy on their agenda today, Qanadbashi emphasized: “The authorities of the Zionist regime consider the establishment of a Palestinian state a threat to the security of their regime. Tel Aviv has never  accepted the two- state solution although even Europe and America have voiced support for the initiative.”

The expert on West Asian issues also explained the reasons for the widespread attacks of the Israeli regime on the Gaza Strip: “From a military point of view, the Zionist regime has always tried to reduce their operational capacity with various attacks on the Palestinians; Moreover, from 2005 to 2024, they carried out ten attacks on Gaza in order to destroy the military power of the Palestinians, which can be the basis for the formation of the Palestinian state.

He explained: “Another action they took is the gradual occupation of the Palestinian lands, especially in the West Bank, where they have continuously occupied more areas of the  Bank by displacing Palestinians and evicting them from their homes and houses under the name of settlement construction. This is a creeping plan to prevent the creation of the necessary conditions for the formation of a Palestinian state.”

Qanadashi also believes that currently, the issue of the Palestinian state has created another problem for the Israeli regime regarding their stated goals for a military attack on the Gaza Strip.

He noted: “Netanyahu and his close aides  in the government clearly emphasize that they want to move all Palestinians from Gaza and disintegrate the military and political structures in that region. Therefore, when European governments talk about the necessity of forming a Palestinian state, it means opposing the stated goal of Tel Aviv in Gaza and supporting the Palestinians.

The expert on West Asian issues went on to say that the discussion between the two governments has caused the Zionists, especially Netanyahu, more than in the past, and said: “This plan means opposing the operation of the Israeli regime in Gaza. Today, Netanyahu’s personal fate is tied to the Gaza war. That is, in the battle of Gaza, if Netanyahu is faced with a situation where foreign countries support the Palestinians and the goals of Hamas, he will be closer to defeat, and considering the political structure of the Israeli regime, he should leave the political arena.

He emphasized: “Netanyahu and some other officials of the Israeli regime did not imagine that at the height of the Gaza war, a global movement in support of Gaza would emerge.”

Qanadbashi concluded: “In a situation where the authorities of the Israeli regime, especially Netanyahu, consider the elimination of the Palestinian political and military figures the displacement of the Palestinian people to be the main solution to the Palestinian issue, most Western countries today have defended the two-state solution, which will not work either.” “It was, but it will be a big obstacle to Netanyahu’s goals.”

“In a situation where the authorities of the Israeli regime, especially Netanyahu, consider the main solution to the Palestinian issue to be the removal of Palestinian political and military groups and the displacement of the Palestinian people, most Western countries today have defended the two-state solution, which, although it will not be practical but will be a great obstacle on the way to Netanyahu’s goals.”
