Strategic Council Online – Interview: An expert on Middle East issues said: The formation of an independent Palestinian state should guarantee full independence and the future status of the state. The Palestinian nation will never accept a state-state solution without enjoying independence, military forces, and territorial integrity.

Hassan Hanizadeh, an expert on Middle East issues, said in an interview with the website of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations: The recent US plan to establish a Palestinian state without weapons is a deceptive plan to divert public opinion and to cover up the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza.

He continued: The Oslo agreement, which was signed in 1993 between the Fatah movement and the Zionist regime, emphasized that an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital would be formed by 2005. However, 18 years have passed since the final date of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, none of the signatories of the Oslo Agreement have fulfilled their obligations, and the United States and the Zionist regime continue to delay and prolong the negotiation process.

Hanizadeh clarified: Therefore, what the Americans are proposing is within the framework of the interests of the Zionist regime, and the formation of a Palestinian state without weapons means the creation of autocratic organizations without any power, and this means destroying the legitimate rights of the nation. Palestine is considered to be a stable and independent state.

This expert added that Palestinians and their leaders issued a statement condemning such plans and announced that they accept the formation of a Palestinian state only if it is genuinely independent. For this reason, the Palestinian nation will never accept a state-state solution without independence, having military forces, and enjoying territorial integrity. Therefore, such plans are a waste of time, and their only purpose is to divert public opinion.

He stated that this delay is only to prolong the process of future negotiations between the Palestinian Authority and the Zionist regime. Besides, America is trying to overshadow the crimes of the Zionist regime in such talks.

Hanizadeh, regarding whether we will witness normalization of relations between certain Arab governments and the Zionist regime? Replied: Normalizing the relationship between the Arab governments and the Zionist regime is a strategic mistake by some Arab governments in the region. This is because the conditions for establishing a relationship with the Zionist regime are not suitable. Establishing relations with the Zionist regime, given the killing of the people of Gaza and ignoring the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to enjoy an independent state, is an example of betrayal of the Palestinian people.

In the end, he noted that the issue of normalization with the Zionist regime has faced the opposition of the Palestinian people and the political currents of the region, and the Arab countries of the area will suffer severe damage from this normalization of relations in the future.

Referring to the solution to end the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza, he noted: Right now, the Zionist regime must accept the decisions of the international community, especially the Hague International Court, and declare an immediate ceasefire. A committee should be formed to investigate the war crimes of the Zionist regime under the supervision of the United Nations, and also estimate the damages caused by the bombings of the Zionist regime for more than 110 days against the people of Gaza and compensate the losses of the Palestinian nation. Meantime, the military and political leaders of the Zionist regime should be prosecuted and put on trial!
