The heavy cost and loss of the Zionist regime in the public opinion of the world

Strategic Council Online—Interview: An expert on West Asian issues emphasized that now the US and Europe are extremely worried about the prolongation of the war in Gaza because this situation increases the gaps between public opinion and differences with their governments, adding that despite sending a large amount of weapons from Western governments as well as all kinds of support in international organizations, support for the actions of the Zionist regime has decreased in the public opinion of these countries.

In an interview with the Strategic Council of Foreign Relations, referring to the complaint of several human rights organizations against the Netherlands due to the sale of parts of an American fighter to the Israeli regime and complicity in violating the laws of war and collective punishment of the civilian population of Gaza, Hassan Hanizadeh stated that although the Israel regime more than before, continues its usual efforts to control the narrative of bloody wars and decades of occupation, according to polls conducted by Western countries, with the continuation of the war, public opinion shows more sympathy for the people of Gaza than before.

He pointed to the efforts of governments and their official media to present a favorable image of Western governments with the aim of creating support for sending more aid to the Israeli regime. He said that despite all these efforts, thanks to social media, the Israeli regime can no longer hide the truth about its behavior in Palestine, and the public opinion of the world is witnessing the killing and brutality of the occupation of the Israeli regime.

The expert on West Asian issues noted the multiplicity of campaigns on social media platforms, including the “We will not be silent” campaign, which encouraged the publication of an image of a person covering his mouth with one hand and holding a poster in support of Gaza, adding that the temporary ceasefire showed that the US is as concerned about changing public opinion about the war as the Israeli regime. In addition, in March of this year and weeks before the start of this conflict, the data published by the Gallup Institute showed that for the first time, the sympathy of the US Democrats in the Middle East is more with the Palestinians than with the Zionists with 49% of the votes, and sympathize with the Israeli regime had 38% of the votes.

Hanizadeh pointed to the change in the policies of Twitter (X) due to the increase in the pressure of public opinion and explained that since October 7, the “Meta” company censored the posts that informed about the mass killing of Palestinian civilians. Still, then, these conditions changed, and the pressure of public opinion changed this equation to a great extent.

He pointed to the results of the polls conducted in the United States, which show the growth of empathy with the Palestinians, and continued that some of the participants in these polls stated that as those who have children themselves, they sympathize with Palestinian mothers and fathers. They were surprised how some Americans could support those who unjustly killed civilians in Gaza! According to the respondents, their sympathies are with those who have had their homes stolen, displaced, and moved to refugee camps in their land since 1948, when the Israeli regime was established.

This expert on West Asian issues, emphasizing that the people of Western countries cannot criticize the Israeli regime based on the laws established in their countries, reminded that the participants in these polls clearly stated that although it is difficult to express this view in the US, yet it is horrifying to watch hundreds of people being accused of anti-Semitism and losing their jobs for voicing these criticisms.

Hanizadeh recalled that according to a report by a research institute at Brandeis University, American Jews make up about 2.4% of the American population, while American Muslims are a little more than 1% of the total population, and added that in the same situation, according to the report of the American media, 26% of the participants in the October polls considered the Israeli regime’s response to Hamas too aggressive. This figure reached 38% in the polls of the following month.

He emphasized that despite the high volume of weapons sent by Western governments and various types of support from international organizations, the support for Israel’s actions has decreased in the public opinion of these countries. They are critical of the performance of their governments; he noted that more than 80 of participants in a poll conducted for Reuters a few weeks ago in the US called for the termination of the military operations of the Israeli regime in Gaza.

This expert on West Asian issues, stating that public opinion considers the response of the Zionist regime to be inhumane, immoral, and wrong, continued that during the past two months, the Zionist regime has used all kinds of mass destruction bombs against the defenseless people of Gaza and killed nearly 20,000 people in Gaza and injured 35,000 children and women. Most of the martyrs are children and women, and this is a violation of international law. About 24 hospitals and dozens of schools have been turned into a heap of rubble and ash by the planes of the Zionist army.

Hanizadeh said: Considering these painful conditions in Gaza and with the pressure of public opinion, international lawyers are now collecting evidence for the trial of the leaders of the Zionist regime. Of course, the European countries that have provided all their facilities to the Zionist regime, including the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, as well as the United States, play a key role in killing the people of Gaza and violating international laws. The lawyers of Islamic countries should also take measures and bring the authorities of the Zionist regime to the war crimes tribunal by preparing documents and collecting evidence.

He stated that the United States had provided 360 million dollars of immediate national aid to the Zionist regime in just one item for the destruction of the Hamas tunnels. However, this regime is condemned by world public opinion. The recent demonstrations in different countries show a gap between the sovereignty and nations in European and American countries, and these gaps will develop more over time.

This analyst of West Asian issues, while emphasizing that now the US and Europe are extremely worried about the prolongation of the war in Gaza because this situation increases the gaps between public opinion and also the differences with their governments, reminded: Now the Zionist regime is trying to destroy Gaza City and forcibly displace its inhabitants and puts Gaza under its own management in the future; in this situation, the Israeli regime will use more violence and Islamic countries must take urgent and appropriate decisions in this regard. However, the Israeli regime’s war against Palestine has not yet ended, but this regime has definitely lost the war in public opinion.
