Sa’adollah Zarei, an expert on West Asia affairs, in an interview with the website of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, said: The fact that the Palestinians feel that a nation supports them to the extent of endangering themselves and endangering their security is very important and increases the resistance of the oppressed people of Palestine and actually revives them.
On the impact of this Yemeni’s action on the Zionist regime, Zarei noted: This regime must understand that it has not stuck a single nation, that is to say, the people of Gaza, in the corner of the boxing ring, and it has not trapped a single nation. Instead, this nation has strong regional support and can threaten it to such an extent that it does not leave any benefits for it in the regional environment.
In response to the question of how has Ansarollah of Yemen become an important player in the scene of the Gaza war, the expert emphasized that another effect of the actions of the Yemenis is that they hinder regional cooperation with the Israeli regime during the war. In fact, from this point of view, the countries that, according to their attitudes and according to what their camp requires, should have relations with the Israeli regime cannot easily continue such relations in a situation where the Yemenis are standing in the middle of the scene with power and its continuation would be expensive for them. In fact, such actions of Yemen’s Ansarollah prevent the formation of such relations during the war.
He added: This issue shows the importance of the measures of the Yemenis, but whether those actions can be a deterrent or not, such debate depends on how much the Zionists are ready to accept the risk and how much they can tolerate the actions of the Yemenis in this scene.
About the time that the Yemeni army started playing its role, he explained: The Yemenis basically started their revival movement in 2003 in the new phase and were able to become the first power in Yemen within six years. Then, in the heavy war that a Western-Arab coalition imposed on them in 2015, in addition to being surrounded, they were actually facing severe restrictions from land, air, and sea, but at the same time, they continued to resist and were able to overcome eight and a half years of heavy war with a coalition of 19 countries that were stronger than the Yemenis in terms of weapons. Then the Gaza incident happened, and the Yemenis took action against the Zionist regime based on one of their most fundamental beliefs that Israel is the center of conspiracy and sedition against Muslims in the world.
He added: This is despite the fact that the Yemeni army knew that its measure would bring heavy costs, but they nevertheless entered this field, and this issue doubles the importance of their action.
Regarding how long the attacks will continue, Zarei said: Yemen’s Ansarollah forces have announced that when Gaza is threatened, they will also increase their pressure on the Israeli regime and make decisions according to the scene of the war. Therefore, they will continue their measures as long as the war continues.
He continued: We have seen from experience that Yemenis do not talk nonsense, as if they say that they do such actions, it should not be doubted because they have proved and put into action what they have said. Therefore, in this case, too, the Yemenis will be faithful to their promise.
The expert on West Asia affairs, commenting about the US action in forming an international coalition in the Red Sea to counter Ansarollah’s actions, said: If Yemen’s Ansarollah were to have problems with the formation of such coalitions, in 2003, when they came to the middle of the scene empty-handed, or in a war where 19 countries imposed on them, they should have withdrawn. But the Yemenis stood strong and defended their country. The situation is the same now, and Yemen’s Ansarollah forces will undoubtedly not back down from the goal they have set for themselves as long as Israel continues its crimes against the defenseless people of Gaza.
