Dr. Kamal Kharrazi on his China trip and besides participation at Beijing World Peace Forum, visited some international relations and foreign relations studies institutes.
The China Institute of International Studies (CHS), Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and The China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations were among those Chinese institutes that were visited during this trip.
Regional issues, Terrorism, US policies and tensions in international system, US withdrawal from JCPOA and its consequences were among subjects which were discussed with presidents of those institutes.
In these meetings, both sides emphasized on the necessity of bilateral cooperation, regional détente in Far East and Middle East, preserving JCPOA and fighting against terrorism.
Emphasizing on Iran’s stabilizing role in the region and preserving status quo in Iraq and Syria, Dr. Kharrazi said unfortunately expansion of terrorism in the region and creation of terrorist groups like ISIS would be impossible if some countries in the region didn’t help them financially and logistically.
On bilateral economic cooperation, President of Strategic Council on Foreign Relations hinted on Iran-China cooperation in “One belt – One Road” project, development of Chabahar in South East of Iran, and Gwadar port in Pakistan. Development of these vast geographical regions contributes to easier access of Middle East and Mediterranean region.
President of Strategic Council on Foreign Relations emphasized that because of US illegal withdrawal from Joint Plan of Action (JCPOA) I.R. Iran expects other parties of the deal to help Iran to leave US sanctions behind, because non-execution of the deal means that there is no benefit for Iran to remain a party to the deal.
In these meetings, continuation of dialogues between the Iranian-Chinese scholars and cooperation between the two sides were emphasized.
