President of Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Kamal Kharrazi, on a visit to Germany, met Minister of State at German Federal Foreign Office, Niels Annen, in Berlin.
In this meeting, various regional issues and bilateral relations, including subjects on Syria and Yemen, JCPOA and Europe’s support of this nuclear deal, USA’s pressures on Europe in various fields were discussed.
The German side praising I.R. Iran’s rational stance after US withdrawal from JCPOA, said: European countries are determined to support this deal, in spite of all difficulties that exist.
“First, selling Iran’s oil, and second, money transfer and SMEs investment in Iran, are the two priorities for cooperating with Iran, and fortunately UNSC’s resolution 2231 is a legal instrument that backs Europe’s support for the the JCPOA.”, Annen said.
“All countries should work to support JCPOA, and as Europe is acting united in supporting this deal, other countries, especially those who buy Iranian oil, should continue their cooperation with Iran.”, he added.
Dr. Kharrazi hinted that US intention is to create tension and conflict in the Middle East and negative consequences of this intention would affect Europe too.
“Europe’s support of JCPOA is not only supporting an important international deal, but also is a contribution to the security of the region.” he said.
“If Europe submits to US pressures in JCPOA, then it should await more pressure from that country.” Dr. Kharrazi added.
“The important issue today, is to convert Europe’s political will in protecting JCPOA into practical measures for executing this deal, in a way that Iran could benefit from JCPOA, otherwise there is no reason for Iran to be a party to the deal.”, president of Strategic Council on Foreign Relations said.
“Based on JCPOA’s text, we have the right to terminate all or part of our commitments when facing others violating theirs, especially now that the US is out of the deal, but we have given Europe this opportunity to see how it will translate its will into practice.”, he emphasized.
