Cross-Border Terror; Israel Attempts to Compensate for Field Defeats

Strategic Council Online - Interview: A university professor says the Zionist regime was not successful in targeting Hamas leaders in Gaza, but it seems that it is now focused on assassinating the leaders of the Resistance and those who helped Hamas in the Al-Aqsa Operation Storm outside the borders of Gaza.

Seyed Hadi Borhani, faculty member and assistant professor at the Faculty of World Studies of the University of Tehran, in an interview with the website of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, in response to the question of whether the assassination of Saleh al-Arouri is a new tactic by the Zionist regime to target the leaders and commanders of the military and political branches of the Palestine Resistance? said: Actually, this action is not a new tactic. The Zionist regime has always used this method to attack militant organizations. In this way, the leaders and commanders of many of these organizations have been assassinated by Mossad. In fact, few leaders of Palestinian organizations have been able to survive these assassinations. All Palestinian organizations, such as Fatah and Hamas, have been hit hard in this area. Now, the main scene of the Zionist regime’s confrontation with the Al-Aqsa ‘Operation Storm’ is the physical elimination of Hamas leaders. The Zionist regime in Gaza was not successful in this regard, and Hamas was able to protect its leadership. Still, the assassination of al-Arouri in Lebanon is considered an important blow because he had an important position in Hamas and Hamas’ relations with the Axis of Resistance, especially Iran, and Hezbollah.

He stated: The Zionist regime considers the assassination of Hamas leaders to be its most important chance to show some kind of victory and satisfy the Zionists’ sense of revenge from the Al-Aqsa ‘Operation Storm.’

The university professor continued: Mossad probably killed more people than any other intelligence organization in the world. According to Bergman’s book (Rise and Kill First); the number of these assassinations is more than three thousand people. The Zionist regime considers murder to be its strength. In this area, the Zionist regime has dealt severe blows to the Palestinian, Lebanese, and Arab countries involved with the Zionist regime. The terror machine of the Zionist regime has been active in Iran in the last decade or two. Israel takes advantage of this capability to disable their masterminds or influential elites.

Borhani, in response to how will Hamas and other Resistance groups respond to this assassination or assassinations? He said: The region’s history shows that the region’s countries and organizations have not been able to respond effectively and appropriately to these attacks and have suffered from this region. This fact has existed, and there are no signs of a change. Of course, the Resistance will not give up and will retaliate. But if there is no appropriate strike or effective deterrence, these attacks will continue.

Asked what the Resistance could do to counter these Israeli attacks, he stated: Adopting the right policy requires profound changes and fundamental reforms. The reasons for this vulnerability must be identified and resolved. It would be beneficial if there were interaction and cooperation with regional intelligence agencies such as Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, etc. Many countries in the region and their security services have a long history of dealing with and competing with the Mossad.

This regional issues expert pointed out that in addition to intelligence capacities, it is necessary to use political and diplomatic potentials to limit and restrain the Zionist regime from engaging in terror politics. Borhani said: It should be noted that the Zionist regime has extensive relations with the big powers, and the intelligence cooperation between Israel and these powers is going on from this direction.

He emphasized that with sound planning and consultation, we can hope that the Resistance Axis can create serious deterrence with an appropriate response and prevent the Zionist regime from pursuing the policy of eliminating the military and political leaders of the Resistance.
