Finding roots of the attack on Salman Rushdie in the United States

Strategic Council Online-Opinion: Although the American and Zionist media and international and regional circles aligned with them try to make a connection between the attack on Salman Rushdie and the negotiations to revive the JCPOA in order to disrupt its course, there is no connection between the two. Hamid Khoshayand—Expert of regional issues

Salman Rushdie, the author of the offensive book “Satanic Verses”, who insulted the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) by publishing his novel-like book in 1988, has been living under the strictest security measures for years and hardly appears in public places.
The British government allocated an average of one million dollars a month to protect Rushdie, but because this matter was met with protest by the British people, Rushdie chose to leave England and settle in the United States two years ago, although he is again heavily guarded in the United States as well.
Salman Rushdie, while giving a speech in New York City, was recently attacked with a knife by a 24-year-old man named Hadi Matar, who was raised in the United States and lives in New Jersey.
Due to the fact that the attack on Salman Rushdie has had a great impact on the public opinion of Muslims and the media and political circles of the world, it is therefore considered an “important event” that needs to be analyzed in addition to its roots, dimensions and consequences. In this regard, the most important points are discussed:
1: The punishment related to Salman Rushdie’s apostasy announced by Imam Khomeini (RA) is based on “Islamic Jurisprudence and Penal Code” and is valid until its implementation and conclusion. This issue has nothing to do with the Islamic Republic of Iran and its constitution and internal regulations, and it is accepted by all the Muslims of the world, because the “Sharia Fatwa” has been issued by an imitative authority who is followed by a great number of Muslims around the world. Therefore, the issue of Salman Rushdie is not only related to Iran, but also related to all Muslims in the world.
Two: Individuals and groups in the United States, for specific purposes, including fueling “Iranophobia” and promoting anti-Iranian programs, tried to link the attack on Salman Rushdie to Iran, without providing evidence in this regard; The only thing they refer to is Imam Khomeini’s fatwa.
Three: Although the American and Zionist media and international and regional circles aligned with them are trying to make a connection between the attack on Salman Rushdie and the negotiations to revive the JCPOA in order to disrupt its course, there is no connection between the two.
Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio wrote in a Twitter message, accusing Iran of the recent attack on Salman Rushdie that why is Biden still negotiating with Tehran?. Tom Cotton another Republican senator, claimed in a tweet that Iran was involved in the assassination of former US officials, and asked President Biden to stop negotiations with Tehran as soon as possible. Mark Dubowitz, the head of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, also said in a message on his Twitter that the US President’s silence against the attack on Salman Rushdie is due to the efforts of the Biden administration to reach an agreement with Iran.
Despite the positions and statements expressed in this regard, it should be emphasized that this will not have an effect on the process of negotiations related to the revival of the JCPOA, which is a “strategic issue” for America and Europe and they need it.
Four: The attack on Salman Rushdie, apart from its overt and covert dimensions and angles, must have important consequences:
First of all, this attack is a “serious warning” for all anti-Islamists and attackers of Islamic characters and values, because insulting the religious sanctities of Muslims is not a crime that goes unpunished and it faces a natural reaction in all parts of the world that knows no boundaries.
Second, it showed how weak and vulnerable the US intelligence systems are, that always tries to show that the country’s intelligence agencies are unique in the world and monitor every movement.
And the final word that in the current situation, attacking Salman Rushdie and at the same time highlighting the alleged assassination attempt on John Bolton and other former US officials, including Trump and Pompeo, for whatever purpose, contains an important point: if the American intelligence agencies and the Zionist regime are involved in this regard, it is clear that despite strict security measures, such personalities, regardless of their status and level of protection, can be “victims of the goals of the intelligence and security organizations” in the United States and their political future will be overshadowed by it.
