Dr. Kharazi’s meeting with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Iraq/ “Iran considers the progress and development of Iraq as its development and progress”

Strategic Council Online: Dr. Seyed Kamal Kharazi, the President of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, today, Tuesday, 30 June 1402, in continuation of his meetings in Baghdad, met with Mr. Mohammad Al-Sudani, the Prime Minister, and Mr. Fawad Hussein, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq.

In these meetings, the two countries strategic cooperation, especially at the regional level, was discussed, opinions were exchanged, and the necessity of expanding this cooperation was emphasized.

Dr. Kharazi considered the success of the new Iraqi government in establishing stability and peace in that country worthy of appreciation and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the progress and development of Iraq as its development. As two independent, prosperous, and democratic countries, Iran and Iraq can be effective not only for developing their countries but also for the stability and development of the entire region. The experiences of the two countries are complementary in this regard.

In this meeting, Mr. Sudani, the Prime Minister of Iraq, welcomed the increase in strategic dialogue between the two countries and considered it necessary. He thanked Iran for fighting ISIS and Iraq’s current stability and peace. He said that Iraq is still facing many challenges and that improving the relations between the two countries can help Iraq to meet these challenges.

Mr. Fawad Hossein, the Iraqi Foreign Minister, also emphasized his country’s readiness to help reduce tension in the region and expand regional cooperation with the presence and participation of the two countries.
