Dr. Kharazi Meets Lebanese Prime Minister on the sidelines of the Doha Forum2022/ Iran, Lebanon Discuss Regional Developments

Strategic Council Online – President of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Dr. Kamal Kharazi Sunday met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on the sidelines of the 2022 Doha Forum.

In the meeting Dr. Kharazi, while referring to the developments in Lebanon and the region, stated: The solution to the Lebanese problems is to stop foreign interference and hold internal talks.

On the situation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action Dr. Kharazi emphasized: “Issues such as providing appropriate guarantees, lifting the sanctions and removing the IRGC from the US list of terrorist groups are important issues that must be resolved before reaching an agreement on the JCPOA.” Of course, resolving these issues depends on the will of the United States.

Mikati also expressed hope for the lifting of sanctions against Iran, stating that with the lifting of sanctions, Iran will have the potential to play a strong role in the region’s economy. He also described the problems facing Lebanon and called for maintaining national cohesion and unity in Lebanon as his top priority.
