Briefing the Japanese official about the Strategic Council, Dr. Kharrazi recommended communication between similar consultative and research institutions in Iran and Japan. He also emphasized the Council’s readiness to expand scientific and research cooperation with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
Mr. Sunami also presented a brief account of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and noted that his Foundation had more than a decade of cooperation and interaction with Iran’s scientific and research institutions. He also voiced the readiness of the Peace Foundation to further strengthen mutual cooperation, including with the Strategic Council on issues of mutual interests, such as Afghanistan and other global developments.
In the meeting, in which the Japanese ambassador in Tehran was also present, Dr. Kharrazi also praised the late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for his efforts to expand Tehran-Tokyo relations, emphasizing the importance of these ties and the development of political, economic, scientific and cultural cooperation.
