The restoration of the Al-Jarrah military airport and the opening of the Russian air base is an important event that is of strategic importance for the Syrian government and its allies, including Russia:

One; First of all, what makes the recent event important is related to the geographical coordinates of Al-Jarrah Airport; Because the location of the airport between the eastern outskirts of Aleppo and overlooking the cities of “Deir Hafer” and “Maskneh” as two strategic cities and also in the vicinity of the eastern borders of Syria, has given it a “unique position”.

Russia has recently started the reconstruction of Syrian military airports from Al-Tabqa to Al-Jarrah, which have a common feature, which is the proximity of these airports to the eastern borders as well as the northern regions of Syria.

Two; The establishment of the said airport and the deployment of Russian military equipment in it, including two Kamov Ka52 helicopters, an MA 8 helicopter, Buk M2A and Pantsir S1 air defense systems, have a “strategic message” for the Zionist regime, which in these years has used every opportunity to violate Syrian airspace and bomb various areas of this country.

For example, the fighters of the Zionist regime targeted Syrian territory dozens of times in 2022, but with the events that happened in the last weeks at Al-Jarrah airport and its infrastructure has been revived and operational, the military and operational power of Syria has significantly increased, and as a result, the readiness of the army of this country to deal with the air attacks of the Zionist regime will be significantly increased.

At the same time, the deployment of new Russian systems in this base, along with other Russian equipment, including the S-300 air defense system, which have been deployed in Syria for a long time, will increase the level of “air deterrence” of the Syrian army against the aggression of the Zionist regime. This is in addition to increasing the maneuvering power of the Syrian government and army in the northern regions.

Three; Considering that the Al-Jarrah airport in Manbij is under the control of the opposition, the Syrian Democratic Forces known as the SDF, the Syrian government wants the return of these areas to Syria and the end of any foreign interference in them.

The reconstruction, revival and opening of the Russian air base in this airport is a “clear message” and a decisive message for the Turkish government that any military attack on northern Syria under any title can have consequences for Ankara.

It is worth noting that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which are supported by the United States and are scattered in Aleppo, Hasaka, and Raqqa province, have left the process of “complete restoration” of the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of the Syrian government over this country. In addition, the activity of the SDF in the mentioned areas that border with Turkey has become an excuse for Turkey to carry out field and military activities in Syria with specific goals.
