Online Strategic Council—Interview: An expert of Middle East issues referred to the approach by Benjamin Netanyahu the prime minister of the Zionist regime concerning the issue of revival of the nuclear deal and his efforts to obstruct the return of the US to the JCPOA, saying Netanyahu has always made efforts to exploit the intensification of conflict between Tehran and Washington to advance his own goals.

Qassem Mohebali told the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations that the main effort by the Zionist regime and its prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally has been focused on intensifying the conflict between Iran and the United States so as to attract more US help and support for the Zionists who can then hide behind the tensions and disputes between Tehran and Washington.

“In the meantime, Tel Aviv has been seeking to get closer than ever to the Arabs. Netanyahu understands that if Iran and the US normalize relations or de-escalate, relations between Iran and the Arabs will improve and the Zionist regime would once again become isolated in the region.”

Mohebali said this trend was totally reverse during the presidency of Donald Trump. However, he said, conditions have changed and Tel Aviv is evidently expressing its concern.

He said Netanyahu had betted in Israel on this issue that he can attract more votes if tension is intensified between the US and Iran.

“However, Netanyahu and the Likud Party failed to gain the majority of the votes in the recent Knesset elections in the occupied territories of Palestine. And under such circumstances, if relations between the United States and Iran are normalized and the nuclear deal revived, Netanyahu would lose all his chances of becoming the prime minister of the Zionist regime once again.”

Mohebali explained that even though Netanyahu has been able to gain the majority of the votes in the recent round of elections due to political and financial corruption, he considers his political life owed to conflict and crisis in the Middle East between Iran and Israel, Iran and the Arabs and Iran and the United States.

“In these conditions, if there is a positive change in the relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and other littoral states of the Persian Gulf and probable the United States and the JCPOA is reinstated and US sanctions lifted, then the political life of Benjamin Netanyahu is terminated.”

Referring to the measures taken by Netanyahu during Barack Obama’s presidency, he said the prime minister of the Zionist regime had told Obama that while you are trying to improve relations with Iran, one morning you will see that Israeli planes are in the sky of Tehran and then you have no choice but to support Tel Aviv otherwise you will lose your status.

According to Mohebali, Iran should manage the crisis now to pass this stage so that the life of extremists in Israel reaches to its end.

He added that the amelioration of atmosphere in the region is to the benefit of Palestinians and the improvement of situation will help them.

Mohebali said the United States is seeking to reduce conflicts and its presence in the Middle East, adding that at the present time, the main priority of the White House is China.

“Therefore, the United States does not want to support the policies of extremist Jews either in the Jewish lobby or the occupied territories but it wants to try to make them aligned with this policy.”
