Boomerang Effect: How US Instigations against Iran Backfire

2020/06/07 | political, top news

Strategic Council Online: For years, the United States incited people in Iran to take to the streets, set things on fire, destroy, kill, and called them freedom-lovers and officially supported them beyond civil protests. The United States announced loudly that regime change in Iran was near so much so that it claimed Iranians will not see their 40th anniversary of the revolution. The United States applied maximum pressure on the Iranian nation by using all the tools at its disposal and expected the Iranians not to survive under the pressure of sanctions and to kneel, and thus the establishment would collapse in Iran.

But things backfired.  The zealous Iranians knowing their enemies endured all the pressures and conspiracies and continued to resist the American bullying and the hypocrisy of the Europeans, and turned threats into opportunities: The opportunity to rely on domestic resources, the opportunity to develop scientific capabilities and the opportunity to boost domestic production. The Iranians have shown that they can defend their interests against the US superpower and those of its allies and expand their influence in the hearts of other oppressed nations.

Who could have predicted that the Iranians would be able to withstand and win a war that lasted eight years and that all the powers were supporting a traitor like Saddam Hussein. Who could have predicted that the Iranians would be able to defend their territorial integrity and dignity against foreign aggression with their iron will and their domestically made weapons and go beyond the borders of Iran to fight the ISIS terrorist army who had been created with an aim to dominate Iran’s neighbours and eventually spread insecurity in Iran.

But today, the boomerang that the US government threw at Iran backfired and hit back that regime. The American people, disillusioned with the domination of the unbridled capitalist system and racist culture due to the death of a black man who was killed after a police officer knelt down on his neck revolted and disobeyed government orders throughout America to the extent that the martial law declared by the government was ignored and the people remained on the streets at night.

Iranians do not support the destruction of public places and the burning of cars wherever they are, but this is the boomerang that the US government was throwing at Iran and has now returned to itself. Where are the so-called advocates of human rights and freedom of expression, which have always put pressure on Iran but are silent today in the face of the most blatant violations of human rights? May today’s uprising for freedom lovers, and anti-racism struggles lead to another change in American society, as in the past, American history has witnessed the abolition of slavery and the passage of the Black and White Equality Act, albeit on paper.

Solution to Get Out of FATF Blacklist and Get Rid of Its Heavy Costs?

Strategic Council Online – Opinion: The Financial Action Task Force, FATF, announced on Friday, February 23, that the name of the Islamic Republic of Iran remains on the “blacklist” of this international organization. A decision that was not unexpected for the authorities of our country. According to the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, one day before the release of the FATF statement, due to the current sanctions, Iran is looking for its own FATF, as it uses other tools instead of SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications). On this basis, it seems that while the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon were removed from the “Grey List” of FATF in the previous reviews in June 2024, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not trying to be exempted from the blacklist. But what kind of organization is FATF, and why are some in Iran against joining it? And what is the way out of this situation?
