Dr. Kharrazi, on a visit to France, met and held talks with former French prime minister and chairman of the Leaders for Peace Forum Jean-Pierre Raffarin in Paris.
Raffarin, underlining the importance of Iran and the wisdom of the Iranian people, said: “It is in no one’s interest to ignore the role of the Iranian people in the region and Iran’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and narcotics.”
He added: “Unfortunately, the importance of Iran’s efforts in these fields remains unknown.”
Dr. Kharrazi pointed to the regional tensions, saying that regional powers need to hold dialogues to strengthen peace and stability.
Describing the approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region and the pressures of the United States government against the Iranian nation, he stated: “The Iranian nation who enjoy political maturity and four decades of experience, would resist the US pressures and will not surrender.”
The SCFR President pointing to the recent developments and Iran’s suspension decision said the deal’s rescue will depend on the European efforts within the next two months to make up for it past procrastination in fulfilling its commitments.
“Europe’s submission to American pressures will have dire consequences,” he added.
Raffarin criticizing US policies aimed at challenging the sovereignty of European countries and causing a rift in Europe said no one in Europe supports Washington’s sanctions policy.
“France is in favor of regional talks to develop peace and security in the region,” Raffarin noted.
