Dr Kharrazi met with former French Foreign Minister Hervé De Charette in Paris Saturday and discussed the developments in the region, Iran-France relations and the Iran Nuclear Agreement.
Referring to the role of the United States in creating crises and tensions in the region, Europe and the world, Dr Kharrazi stated: “The incumbent US president’s strategy is to cause a rift in Europe and prevent its cohesion on the one hand and exterminate the JCPOA on the other.”
He added that at the regional level too, Trump while supporting the Zionist regime with an aim of completing the occupation of Palestine is trying to extort certain subservient Arab regimes by humiliating them and spreading Iranophobia.
De Charette also underlined the importance of European independence and coherence and stated: “Using the power of the USD as a tool to punish other countries is unacceptable.”
He noted that Iran plays a very important role in the region, and the dialogue and deepening of relations between Tehran and Paris is important for the development of peace and security in the region.
On Iran’s Nuclear Agreement, De Charette said the deal between Iran and the P5 + 1 is an international agreement and everyone should strive to maintain it.
Dr Kharrazi, describing the latest status of the JCPOA and the necessity for Europe to fulfil its commitments to protect the deal, stated: “Europe’s response in this respect would show to what extent it will be moving in line with its independence.”
On the IRI policy in the region, Dr Kharrazi underlined the role Iran plays in creating stability in the region and stated that Iran’s influence in the regional states has not been generated by the use of force but is rather the fruit of the IRI spiritual influence in the hearts of nations.
