Iran’s Proposal for Peace in the Region

2019/02/14 | News, political

Strategic Council Online: President of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations says the region is fed up with all the killings and aggression.

Dr.  Kamal Kharrazi, addressing a Meeting on “Four Decades of Foreign Policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” attended by post-revolution foreign ministers and a group of Tehran-based ambassadors and foreign missions, said: “To achieve the peace in the region, we have to select a topic for discussion over which there is no difference.”

He added that one of these issues over which there is no difference between the countries of the region is the great Islamic Civilization. We are the inheritors of this civilization, and all countries are proud of it.

The SCFR president outlining the existing potentials for the revival of the Islamic Civilization, noted: “There is a need for self-consciousness; it is enough to answer the question that if all the money spent on warfare had been spent on scientific development, what would be our situation?

Dr. Kharrazi added: “In this regard, dialogue between the thinkers of the Islamic countries will be effective, can revive the Islamic Civilization and solve the differences.”

Celebrations of Revolution Victory Coincide with Serious Global Crisis

Referring to the three main slogans of the Islamic Revolution, namely Freedom, Independence and Islamic Republic, he said: “We have paid heavy costs to realize these three important slogans; either at the beginning of the revolution when we countered terrorism, or after that when a war was imposed against us, or under the sanctions and continued terrorism, both inside the country and in the region.”

The SCFR president further stated: “Fighting the enemy is costly and the Iranian nation has shown it is ready to bear the cost in compliance with its objectives and the revolution.”

Dr. Kharrazi said that today, we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution victory, while the world is experiencing a critical situation. “We are witnessing the failure of imperialism and capitalism after the defeat of fascism and communism. The United States, as a symbol of capitalism, has now resorted to bully and punitive measures rather than competition.”

He added: “It is a new type of imperialism called financial imperialism. By adhering to this policy, they (Americans) are trying to dominate the world and make others obey them through punishment tool.

The US Blackmailing in the Form of Financial Imperialism

The president of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations called the US government’s blackmailing China, Russia, and even Europe as an example, saying that Washington has even started to commit security blackmail. The president of the United States says that other countries must pay for their own security and thus commits extortion as regards their property and capital.

Dr. Kharrazi pointed to the situation in Saudi Arabia and said: “Saudi Arabia, which one day had credit in the world, has now weakened the pillars of its rule by adhering to unreasonable policies such as the killing of innocent people in Yemen, or the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi journalist at the Saudi consulate (in Turkey) so much so that even its old allies are avoiding Riyadh.

He described religion, unity of the royal family, and Saudi Arabia’s wealth and oil as the three power pillars of the Saudi government, saying: “By following wrong policies, all the three pillars have been damaged, so that the behavior of bin Salman in Saudi Arabia in the name of modernism has provoked the sensitivity of religious centers and undermined the religious foundation; the royal family is divided too and the country’s wealth has been plundered through $400 billion extortion.”

Saudi Arabia’s Evident Failure in the Region

The SCFR president said that Saudi Arabia’s frustration in the region was evident, and Riyadh has gained nothing from the huge costs it has made in Yemen and Syria. Saudi Arabia has no choice but to obey the United States for its absurd policies.

Dr. Kharrazi stated: “Despite being under sanctions for 40 years, Iran is the most stable country in the region thanks to its people and sacrifices made to this end. The world knows that Iran does not receive orders from any foreign power and no country can impose its will on our country.

He continued, “The people have displayed the magic of faith and loyalty to the revolution. The Islamic Republic does not rely on any power but on faith and its people.”

The SCFR president said: “In the meantime, any country that has asked for our help, we have helped them. When the Iraqi regime occupied Kuwait, we condemned this action. When there was a coup attempt in Turkey, we were the first country to condemn it. For us, in addition to our own security, the security of others is also important.”

Iran Is Stabilizing Factor in the Region

Referring to the charges leveled against Iran by the United States that Iran is a source of insecurity in the region, Dr. Kharrazi said: “Is it Iran which has made the region insecure or we were the ones who shed our blood to ensure security of the region, and have been a factor of stability?”

He stressed that this is the American alliance that has caused insecurity in the region. Who supported ISIS and al-Nusra Front? Who made these groups a terrorist division within weeks?

The SCFR chief said that Iran’s influence in the region, contrary to that of the United States, is a natural and spiritual influence, “because we have rushed to help not to get shares. They say that Iran has conquered four Arab capitals, while we have captured the hearts of people. When you serve, you conquer the hearts of humans. This penetration is not a sin. Our region has been suffering from tension and bloodshed for many years. What should have we done?
