US Intention behind Holding Anti-Iranian Confab in Poland

Strategic Council Online: Washington by holding such a meeting is seeking to isolate Iran and forge a consensus against Tehran, however, if the countries refuse to attend the conference, the United States will not achieve its goal. Abdolreza Faraji Rad - University Lecturer on Geopolitics

The United States has launched a new round of anti-Iran policies by planning to hold a conference in Warsaw, Poland. With regard to US goals behind holding this meeting, one can point out the issue of US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (Iran Nuclear Agreement) with the aim of isolating Iran and, of course, its reverse outcome. In fact, when President Donald Trump decided in May to unilaterally withdraw from the Iran Nuclear Agreement, he thought this would isolate Iran, but not only Iran was not isolated but it was Washington that was isolated. So, under the present conditions, Washington is pursuing these policies on the pretext of securing the region, but with the aim of isolating Iran and forging a further global consensus on economic sanctions against Tehran.

Of course, the Americans are following secondary goals behind the Warsaw confab, including causing a greater gap between EU member states. European countries, especially Western Europe, want the JCPOA to stay. But Eastern European countries are not very much opposed to Washington’s policies concerning Iran and the JCPOA because they regard their security vis-à-vis Russia to be very important.

Another goal of the Trump team behind the Warsaw confab relates to the participating countries. The presence of Zionist regime authorities along with the officials of the Arab states and other countries will break the taboo of direct handshaking between the leaders of Israel and conservative Arab states so that they could raise the issue of the “Deal of the Century”.

The question here is whether the United States can achieve its goals behind the anti-Iranian conference in Warsaw?

It depends on whether the countries invited to the Polish conference will attend the conference and at what level? That is whether they will send ministers or will attend at a lower level?

In Western Europe, many countries are reluctant to attend because they know it is anti-Iran and anti-JCPOA but most of the Eastern European countries will probably be present at this meeting.

Of course, countries such as Denmark and the Netherlands, which have recently had problems with Iran, are likely to attend or the UK may send a low-level delegation to the conference.

It should not be forgotten that Trump is facing serious difficulties after the formation of the new Congress. On the one hand, the new Congress has criticized the president contrary to expectations, and on the other hand, Judge Müller is preparing a final report on Russia’s involvement in the US elections.

There has also been some debate about the US president’s spying for Russia, which the FBI is seriously investigating the issue. Therefore, these issues have worsened the status of Trump inside the US. If any of these cases prove to be true until the Warsaw conference is held in one month there will be big breaking news.

With the situation Trump is stuck in, the countries that want to attend the Polish event will assess the situation and then decide whether or not to attend. Of course, countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, or Zionist regime leaders will take part in the conference. Because these governments, in addition to being submissive to Trump and in need of Washington’s support, have open hostility towards the Islamic Republic of Iran. If the Warsaw conference is held at a low level, the United States will not accomplish its goals. Washington by holding such a meeting is seeking to isolate Iran and forge a consensus against Tehran, however, if the countries refuse to attend the conference, the US will not achieve its goal.
