Strategic Council Online—Interview: An expert of West Asia affairs referred to the 12-day war of the Zionist army against the people of Gaza and said even though the war on Gaza finished with the victory of the Palestinian resistance, many financial damages were inflicted on the infrastructure of this region.

Seyyed Reza Mirabian told the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations that countries that took steps during the Trump era to normalize relations with the Zionist regime, participated in the crimes of Israel against Gaza.

Referring to the approach of the regional countries concerning the 12-day war between Israel and Palestine, he said the United Arab Emirates was the first country that normalized relations with Israel and openly defended and supported the crimes and murders of Israel in the recent war on Gaza.

Mirabian pointed out the normalization of relations between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv and the opening of embassies and said such measures indicate that both the UAE and Israel have made commitments towards each other.

“In fact, signing peace and security, intelligence and military cooperation agreement between Israel and the UAE obligates them to support each other and cooperate under such circumstances was war.”

He said some aspects of cooperation between the UAE and Israel remain confidential, adding that “we should not forget that the UAE and Israeli fighter jets participated in wargames in Cyprus and other areas and in fact the goal of such an exercise was to expand cooperation in other regions such as parts of Yemen.”

He said such cooperation is beyond diplomatic relations, adding that the main goal of the UAE in normalizing relations with Tel Aviv was to create a regional support for itself with the backing of Israel but they committed a big strategic blunder.

The West Asia affairs expert said the Emiratis did not oppose Israeli war on Gaza, adding that the UAE hosted Israeli subjects and even some Emirati nationals went to the Israel Knesset and were present there.

“Analyzing the UAE approach, one can understand that this country adopted an approach much uglier and worse than some of the European and non-Muslim countries concerning the recent war on Gaza. It was a real shame for the Muslim and Arab worlds. Such an approach by Abu Dhabi was under conditions in which the people of Gaza were being murdered by Israeli bombs and strikes.”

Mirabian added that “apparently the Abu Dhabi crown prince proposed to pay compensation to the Zionists and this is not the first betrayal to Palestinians in the 12-day war; During this war and when Palestinians were being mass murdered by the Zionist regime bombers and army, Mohammad bin Zayed proposed to Netanyahu to send mercenaries to kill Palestinians.”

This expert referred to the Saudi approach towards the recent crisis in Gaza and said “we witnessed that Riyadh adopted silence and did not declare any position concerning the killing of Palestinians. The reaction by the Arab countries to the crimes and murders of the Zionist regime was not as expected and it can be even mentioned that the public opinion of the Arab world reacted better than Arab governments to the Israeli crimes and murders in Gaza.”

Praising the position of Pakistan and Turkey concerning the Zionist regime crimes and attaches, he said the people of Pakistan especially reacted very good and became distinguished among the Muslim world in supporting the people of Palestine.

“The people and National Salvation government of Yemen, the Algeria government, Indonesia and Malaysia adopted good positions in favor of Palestine as opposed to the UAE. ”

Asked about the position of the Muslim countries, regional states and European countries concerning the crimes and murders of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian resistance, he said “in general, the Muslim world adopted a favorable approach to Palestine but the Arab countries of the region either acted neutrally or were in the Israeli front. Also, the public opinion of the West was mostly in condemnation of the Israeli measures and even in the United States we witnessed that the public opinion condemned this mass murder by the Zionist regime severely and were critical of that.”
