Gaza war and popular support for the resistance front

2021/06/15 | interview, political, top news

Strategic Council Online—Interview: An expert of West Asia affairs says public uprisings in the region are a backup and complementary for more legitimacy for the resistance axis, adding that in the recent Gaza war “we witnessed the formation of a serious uprising among the nations of the region and was an emphasis on the point that normalization of relations with the Zionist regime has not had any impact on the knowledge and demands of nations.”

Alireza Taqavinia told the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations that efforts for the normalization of relations between some Arab nations of the region with the Zionist regime has not resulted in the reduction of protests to the Zionist regime’s oppression of Palestinians.

Referring to the reactions and public attention to the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and protests in support of the Palestinians, he said “during the past 40 years, Egypt has normalized its relations with Israel but the security of this regime has not improved and a Zionist citizen cannot walk freely in Egypt or in Jordan that pursued the same reconciliation policy in the 1990s. There is no security for an Israeli in Jordan or Egypt. The same is true in other countries.”

The role of the virtual space and social media

This expert of West Asia affairs said the Zionist regime is like a waste member of a transplant which has been rejected by the body of the patient as it does not belong to it. He added that in the recent war on Gaza, the role of the virtual space and social media was so strong. The Zionist regime managed to target the bureaux of Al-Jazeera and Associate Press in order to cut the news coverage of its crimes in Gaza and also threaten other media to avoid media coverage of the Gaza war.

“However, social networks entered the scene as a proper alternative for mainstream news media and were able to appropriately cove the crimes of the Zionists and make the nations of the region familiar with the realities of the Gaza and portray the weakness and decline of the Zionist regime.”

Taqavinia said the incidents that happened in the Zionist cities were unprecedented. The images of resistance rockets hitting buildings and the destructions were undeniable and represented the public uprising of the Arab people of Palestinian lands in 1948 which happened for the first time in the 73-year history of the illegitimate and unlawful life of the Zionist regime. This was a turning point in the struggle of the Palestinian nation against the Zionist regime.

He added that these issues, despite concerns regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, caused the formation of a serious rise among the nations of the region and heralded good incidents which may continue in the coming months. This indicated that the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime has not impacted the will and knowledge of the nations.

This analyst of West Asia affairs referred to disappointment in some Arab countries of the region towards continued US support for them and their interest in establishing relations with the Zionist regime, adding that such a motivation and policy have never been recognized by the people of the region.

Uprisings of the people of the region are a legitimate backup for the resistance axis

Taqavinia said public uprisings in the region are a legitimate backup, catalyzer and complementor of the measures of the resistance axis, adding that the more the resistance movement heightens its measures against the Zionist regime, the more the people of the region would render support for the resistance groups and their supporter countries.

“I am sure if the people of these Arab countries were content about the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime, their government would have surrendered to Trump. However, developments of the past two years demonstrated that 73 years of efforts by the Zionist regime to place itself in the heart of the nations of the people, in spite of portraying a positive and democratic image, have failed.”

The serious defeat of the Zionist regime in technical, tactical and strategic dimensions

Taqavinia said the 12-day war on Gaza was pre-planned, adding that Mr. Netanyahu supported the attack of the hooligans on the Al-Aqsa mosque and the eviction of the residents of Sheikh Jarah neighborhood offered an opportunity for the resistance movement to create a new balance against the Zionist regime in attack and offense issues.

“These conditions were a test for assessing the capabilities of this regime in technical, tactical, and strategic dimensions. The Zionist regime suffered a serious defeat in all three dimensions. And the nations of the region became aware of these issues. ”

He added that the people of Israel became aware that their Army is incapable against the threats which bother their citizens and have failed to confront the threats from the North (Lebanon), Northeast (Syria) and South (Gaza).

Strengthening resistance power through public support of the nations of the region

Taqavinia referred to the strengthening of resistance movement through public support of the nations of the region and said Mao Tse-tung, China’s revolutionary politician and theorist of the Communist Party, believed that a guerrilla is like a fish and people are like water. If the fish is taken out of the water, it will die. The resistance movements cannot survive without the support of the people and this public support would prolong their life and give them more strength and power.

Asked about the impact of such supports on the developments of the region, he said the Zionist regime indicated in the last war that it is extremely vulnerable politically, economically, psychologically and socially. And basically it does not have the power and capability for presence in a war. The resistance axis, due to such conditions, and under the support of the informed nations of the region, has the best opportunity to create a new equation in the region.
