Consultation on new developments in the foreign relations of Iran and Syria

Strategic Council Online: On the last day of his stay in Damascus, Dr. Seyed Kamal Kharazi, the president of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, met with Mr. Bashar Assad, the President of Syria.
In this meeting, international and regional developments, especially new developments in Syria’s foreign relations, as well as the establishment of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, were discussed. They also reviewed bilateral relations between Iran and Syria at the macro and strategic levels.
Considering the Western conspiracy to create division among Islamic societies, it was decided to establish more communication between the scholars and thinkers of the two countries regarding the issue of the youth and to counter the cultural invasion of the West.
At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Kharazi expressed his condolences for the death of many Syrian people in the recent earthquake and his sympathy with the Syrian government and people.
In response, the President of Syria expressed his appreciation and gratitude for Iran’s support and assistance to the people and government of Syria, including in fighting against terrorism and foreign threats, as well as Iran’s aid to the victims of the recent earthquake.
