Addressing the academics, he cited the Iranian-Uzbek culture and civilization, saying: “Our identity depends on our culture and civilization. It is necessary for the two countries to work together to revive the Islamic civilization.”
The SCFR president added: “Scientific, cultural and technological cooperation, dialogue between elites, promotion of tourism between the two countries, and preparing the grounds for business and economic activities can help us achieve this goal.”
Professor Abdulrakhim Mannonov, the rector of the Institute, also referred to the university’s 100-year history, saying: “There are now scientific cooperation between the university and the universities of Tehran and Mashhad, as well as the Saadi Foundation.”
He also announced the readiness of the university for further bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas cited to by Dr. Kharrazi in his speech.
Dr. Kharrazi also met with head of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan and the Institute for International Relations of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, and discussed issues of mutual interest and future cooperation.
