In this meeting, the parties discussed countering the spread of extremism in the region, preventing division among Muslims, furthering dialogue and understanding between Islamic sects and religions, mainly Shia and Sunni, and paying attention to the Western conspiracy to destroy the religious foundations of young generations in the Islamic world. They also emphasized the need for more communication and cooperation among religious scholars of Islamic countries, mainly Shia and Sunni jurists in Iran and Syria, to address emerging issues.
Considering Iran-Syria relations as strategic, the Minister of Endowments of Syria thanked Iran for its cooperation in fighting terrorism, especially the bravery of martyr General Hajj Qassem Soleimani and the help provided by the Iranian people to the victims of the recent earthquake in Syria.
Dr. Kharazi emphasized the need for vigilance to prevent the Western conspiracy to create division between Islamic countries, which serves the interests of the Zionist apartheid regime. He also referred to the need for the approximation of Islamic religions and the expansion of unity among Muslims as one of the ideals and goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
